There are many, many products on the market which claim to discourage, trap alive or kill moles. The experience of a large number of professional molecatchers has shown that:

Most of the deterants are useless; indeed some may even attract moles.

Trapping moles alive is inhumane because:

• A live-trapped mole may spend many hours in the tiny trap becoming extremely distressed, dehydrated, exhausted and hungry
• A live-trapped mole released after such an ordeal will be incapable of digging sufficient tunnels in a new environment to feed itself and so will die of hunger
• If it were released into a new environment where a mole is already present it will, because of the extreme territorial nature of the animal, be attacked by the already resident mole

Some of the kill-traps available on the internet are illegal for use in the UK.

All traps can be completely ineffective when used by inexperienced hands.

I use traditional methods of mole control using only humane traps. I do not use gas or poisons. I comply with all of the code of practice of The Guild of British Molecatchers.
